Image renders differently in IJ1 & IJ2

Description (last modified by afraser)

Attached are images that I generated by Z-Projecting the first 10 frames of the Bat Cochlea Rendering.

The images seem identical, but I noticed that it is rendered much lighter in IJ2 than it is in IJ1. (The same was true prior to saving the images, and I've attached a screenshot of the images and their info+histogram side by side. IJ2 on left, IJ1 on right)

I should mention that I compared the first frame of the original Bat Cochlea Rendering stack (after creating a substack from the first 10 frames) and couldn't detect any difference in the lightness of the rendering. This was verified by comparing screen captures in photoshop.

This ticket does not fit the beta4 theme of plugin work. It will fit in marginally better with the beta5 theme of flexible data handling.

See also #1577 "Screen output non-linear". Even the sample file 'clowns.jpg' is rendered too light, without any Z projection processing.

This was fixed long ago by making legacy layer correctly reuse IJ1 display ranges. Closing.
