After the beta1 release in the imagej mail list Leon Espinosa reported:

The display refreshing is very slow (for example 2-3 seconds to display "duplicate" blobs.gif)

Tested post beta 3 and things are now much faster. The result of the duplicate command on blobs does not look exactly right but that is its own ticket elsewhere. Considering this issue fixed.
