We cannot make the API headless-safe retroactively, that is correct. But 
that was not the idea of ImageJDev, right? ij.* stays the same as before, 
imagej.* is the new and redesigned API, which we want to make so enticing 
that everybody will want to rewrite their plugins ;-)
