Does clicking on the ImageJ status bar also report the correct limit? You might
have to resize the main window to be wider, in order to see the entire message.
But it should be something like:

(Fiji Is Just) ImageJ 2.0.0-rc-30/1.49s; Java 1.6.0_24 [64-bit]; 11MB of 4223MB
(<1%).

If Java really has 14GB to work with, it should say something like "of 13983MB"
at the end.

Is that the case for you?
