I'm having this same issue, but hen compiling and running on my IntelliJ IDEA
environment. 
I tried the solution of updating until the updated message is shown, but the
dialog says it needs to restart Fiji, it closes it bu tnever starts again. I
guess it's because is not a standalone executable, but being run from the IDE.

Any ideas on how I can solve this? Will be very appreciated.
Let me know if more information is needed.
